Anilionis witness statement
Gitas Anilionis began working for Mr. Lebedev as an assistant on 1990 and moved through the ranks within a joint venture called SP Russian Trust and Trade (RTT). He describes how RTT was instructed to execute a series of transactions transferring ownership or Yukos to offshore companies.
In his statement, Mr. Anilionis also details how the Yukos oligarchs created the illusions of competition via privatisation-related auctions that had actually been fixed from the outset.
Mr. Anilionis describes how in 1997 and 1998 RTT was instructed to execute a series of transactions transferring ownership of Yukos to offshore companies located in foreign jurisdictions in order to conceal the actual ownership and control of the company, as well as to assist the oligarchs with avoiding income and capital gains taxes.
